Tanjung Karang Coastal Panorama For the city of Palu, which is located on the edge of a bay, beach tourism has become an activity of its residents almost every time the holiday arrives. The large number of stretches of beaches in different locations starting from the city center to Donggala district is also a target for travelers and tourists who enjoy a variety of activities with a sea atmosphere as the background. One of the favorite beaches that is often visited is Tanjung Karang Beach. Tanjung Karang is located in Palu Bay, which is part of the Donggala City area. Tanjung Karang Beach is a favorite tourist destination for Palu residents.
This beautiful beach is located almost 40 km from the city center of Palu. If you start your journey from Jakarta, the capital of Central Sulawesi Province can be reached via air flight with the city of Makassar as a stopover. From Hassanudin-Makassar airport, Mutiara airport in Palu city will welcome the arrival of airplane passengers after traveling for approximately 1 hour. From Palu, Tanjung Karang Beach is just one step away. This beach can be reached by traveling overland by motorized vehicle to the northeast of the city of Palu, which takes less than 1 hour.
The trip to Tanjung Karang will also pass through the city center of Donggala. Rows of wooden boats anchored or leaning at Donggala port will welcome tourists visiting Tanjung Karang Beach. As a former provincial capital, these historic city corners are also worth visiting. The white stretch of sand is the most striking object that will be seen on Tanjung Karang Beach. The soft sand texture is so beautiful under the sun glow. The clarity of the water is also really amazing. The farther away from the shoreline, the stretch changes color to turquoise.

Across from it, a mountain range stands proud as if showing itself to spoil the eyes of tourists. The accompaniment of white clouds that lined up became a unique item on the peaks. The wooden boats belonging to fishermen who are looking for fish in the waters of Tanjung Karang also add to the nuances of the existing coast. Tanjung Karang Beach is not suitable for surfing areas because Tanjung Karang Beach has calm and friendly waves and white sand. For diving and snorkeling lovers, this area is very suitable because the water is very clear and Tanjung Karang Beach is known to be rich in coral reefs.
Gili Raja ‘is the name of a ship that is now resting in the deep waters of Tanjung Karang. The location is on the south coast of its coast. The sponges that grow on the parts of the ship which has a length of 80 meters are a beautiful sight for divers. Not to mention the marine life that makes this shipwreck their home. The diversity and uniqueness of the body shapes of these sea creatures provides its own panorama. If Gili Raja is at a depth of 40 meters, the ‘wreck’ ship named ‘Mutiara’ is at a lower depth, about 20 meters. Even though it’s not too deep, the beautiful scenery can still be seen on the wreck which lies 2 Km from the shoreline.
Apart from the wreck, the waters of Tanjung Karang also have 17 clusters of sponges to complement their underwater beauty. Some of them are Irmis block, Natural Reef, Alex Point, Green Wall, Rocky Point, Anchor Reef, House Reef and others. The dive spots are spread out in a radius of 20 km and 14 of them are not far from the coastline. Apart from diving, the underwater beauty of Tanjung Karang Beach can also be enjoyed via a glass boat. These wooden boats can be rented at a price of 100 thousand per boat / hour *. One glass boat can be boarded by 10 passengers.
Not only that, but only by walking 5 meters from the shoreline, tourists can use a snorkel to enjoy the biota and coral reefs that are part of the House Reef dive spots. For those who like fishing, boats can also be rented to take visitors to rocky areas with sufficient water depth. Grouper, Yellow Fin Tuna, Baronang and Snapper are the types of fish in the waters of Tanjung Karang that often eat the bait of anglers. And if you are lucky, dolphins will complement the fishing experience at Tanjung Karang Beach. In addition, tourists can enjoy the open view of Palu Bay and Makassar Strait with boats going in and out of Pantoloan Harbor and fishing boats in Palu Bay.
