Mahoro Island is an island located in the district of Sitaro, North Sulawesi Province, and is still within the scope of North Nusa. Mahoro Island is very famous for its stunning natural beauty. Mahoro Island is a tourist destination that is no less beautiful than Bunaken.

The Mahoro Island cluster and small islands in between are often referred to as the Buhias Cluster. Among the small islands there are some uninhabited islands, including Mahoro Island and located at the very end of the Buhias Cluster. Mahoro Island itself is the easternmost point of the Buhias cluster, making this island a kind of fortress for the other islands. One side is directly facing the free ocean which makes the stone walls hit by the waves. While on the other side it becomes so calm, as calm as the water in a pool, because in front of it lie several islands that enclose it.
This island is a very beautiful place to enjoy views of the Karangetang Volcano which is known as The Real Volcano, because of its activities throughout the year. Mahoro Island is also very good for waiting for the sunrise and sunset that sink behind several islands in front of it. Mahoro Island has white sand beaches which are still very clean and have not been mixed with the slightest trash. The view of the coral reefs under the sea of this island can also be enjoyed by visitors which you can find at a depth of only 1 meter and only about 3 meters from the shoreline, making us easily enjoy it by snorkeling.
Not to mention that the water waves are very calm like a pool so that it will not cause worry to any visitors who want to swim on the beach. In fact, children can freely play on the white sand on the beach without worrying about the dangerous waves. Likewise for those of you who have a hobby of diving, coral reef spots can be easily found. No wonder some dive masters call it paradise diving.
Mahoro Island still has a lot of marine life that are classified as complete. One of the rare biota is ancient fish. Local people still often see ancient fish on this island and these ancient fish still live freely around the islands they inhabit. Besides ancient fish, there are also other rare biota, namely turtles. At every full moon, these turtles often land and lay their eggs on this beach.
If your guts are big enough, take the time to try to explore the swallow’s nest cave on the side of the island. The cave is partially submerged in water. And at the end of the other side of the island there is a hollow coral which is tempting to pass. Be careful with the waves that are sometimes unexpected. If the sea water is receding, there will be a kind of artificial white sand garden on which there are many swallow nests and passing bats flying between one another. Apart from the rock cave, on Mahoro Island, there are also pieces of portuguese beteng heritage. These pieces indicate that Mahoro Island still has a lot of history. Our ancestors gave the name Mahoro which means first or foremost.
